Mission Statement/Purpose
To provide unconditional, non-judgmental love, companionship and support to a person living with HIV/AIDS.
Major Accomplishments
We celebrate special events (i.e. birthday/Christmas) and constantly offer encouragement and support in our partner’s struggle with HIV/AIDS disease.
Major Activity
We will participate in (as we have in past years) the annual AIDS Walk in Raleigh sponsored by the Alliance of AIDS Services – Carolina. This is a major fund-raising and awareness event for the whole Triangle area and is supported by our St. Thomas More Community.
Meeting Frequency
We meet on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 6 p.m.
Meeting Venue
We meet in the St. Thomas More library, located in the Parish Office.
Estimated Time Commitment for Volunteers
There is a 1-1/2 to 2 hour team meeting once a month plus approximately 2 hours of companionship with our assigned partner.
Special Skills
No special skills are required, just a willingness to spend time with our assigned partner and to tend to his/her needs with compassion and sensitivity.
