JustFaith
Most of us long to be a generous and compassionate people. Our Catholic tradition and the sacred Scriptures extend an extraordinary invitation to each of us and to our faith communities to become agents of God’s compassion and healing in a wounded world. The Good News of Christ is both a comfort and a promise for the poor and, at the same time, a call to those of us who are not poor to be linked with God’s vision of justice and reconciliation. The JustFaith program is an in-depth study of Catholic Social Teaching, which offers an opportunity for parishioners to experience a spiritual journey into compassion.
JustFaith involves a substantial commitment. The process involves thirty weekly sessions, two retreats, and four "border-crossing experiences", and participants are expected to do one to two hours of reading each week. Also, participants have the privilege of developing community as they journey through this program.
This year there are two local groups meeting, one at Holy Infant parish on Tuesdays and the other at St. Thomas More on Thursdays. New groups will be formed during the summer of 2008, to start meeting in late August 2008, until early May 2009.
Each group is limited to the first fifteen registrants. The cost, which includes 12-13 books, is approximately $145.
You can view the complete schedule for the coming year.
Fee waived for students or those in need of financial assistance. All those interested should contact Jim Hynes at 942-6237. Deadline for registration is August 1st.
