I was born into a loving Baptist family that taught me a lot about the Bible, so I developed an interest in Church history. This led me, inevitably, to my first Mass, an Ash Wednesday morning two years ago, just to check out the interesting and strange traditions. After Father Durbin disproved what I was told as a kid—that Catholics don't have good sermons—I did more and more reading of the Bible and Church theology, fell in love with the Mass and the Eucharist, and eventually even dared to pray the Rosary. Pretty soon, I decided that entering the Catholic Church was what honored God the most. I'm 19 and a freshman at UNC-Chapel Hill.
