About our Curriculum:

RCL’s Faith First® Legacy Edition

A Spiral Learning Method

Faith First teaches the four pillars of the Catechism of the Catholic Church (Scripture, Prayer, Community, Discipleship) every year, at every grade level. This "spiral" approach reinforces faith at every age.

Faith First Legacy Edition Wins CPA Award!

Faith First Legacy Edition Parish has been awarded the 2007 First Place Award for Best Educational Books by the Catholic Press Association.

From the award citation: “This series for grades kindergarten through junior high (is) the “spiral” approach to learning the Catholic faith. Rather than one subject, each pillar of the Catechism is developed on every grade level in age appropriate ways.

The text is well-written, the graphics are pleasing to the eye, (and) the additional resources such as assessment tools and on-line support are most welcome. Chapter lesson plans make it easy for first-time parents (and) catechists.”

The New Roman Missal

On the first Sunday of Advent this year (November 27) all Catholic Churches in the USA will begin to use the Third Edition of the Roman Missal. This means that many of the prayers which are familiar to us in the Mass will change.  Elementary Faith Development will teach our students about these changes in the two months before they take place, using "What's New about the Mass?" from Liturgy Training Publications

Sacramental Preparation

We give special emphasis to sacramental preparation, in which First Reconciliation and First Eucharist are usually celebrated in Second Grade, after two years of preparation. Baptized children older then this may prepare for the sacraments through the special Sacramental Preparation Program, which also takes two years.

Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults, adapted for Children:

The rites of the Church by which those interested may be initiated as full members. This for children who have not been baptized, or who have been baptized in another denomination.

Vacation Bible School:

A fun-filled week of crafts, singing and learning about your faith.

Operation Rice Bowl:

A project during Lent in which children learn about poverty, compassion and social justice, and collect money for Catholic Relief Services.

Social Events:

  • Parent’s Reception: This is a chance for the parents to meet their child’s Catechists for coffee and doughnuts.
  • Christmas Program: December 18 2011 - Children of all grades will sing and tell the Christmas story.
  • Prayer Services
  • Stations of The Cross
  • Church Tours
