Priesthood Discernment Group

Adult Catholic men between the ages of 17-48 discerning a possible call to Priesthood are invited to the Priesthood Discernment Group meetings held on the third Saturday of each month. If you are just beginning to contemplate a vocation or are more serious about a call to Priesthood please consider attending this group. The Priesthood Discernment Group provides a fraternal environment in which to discuss your discernment of a possible call to Priesthood with other men who are also examining the call. The group discusses issues central to the call and does so within the context of prayer, presentations, and discussion. The morning begins with Mass in Sacred Heart Cathedral at 9:00AM and continues in the Office of Vocations after Mass (two doors down from the Cathedral). Morning Prayer, a discussion/presentation about discernment/Priesthood, Daytime Prayer, and lunch follow.

Roman Catholic Diocese of Raleigh
Prayer for Vocations

Father, in your plan for our salvation you provide shepherds for your people. Fill your Church with the spirit of courage and love. Give the Church more priests, worthy ministers for your altars and ardent but gentle servants of the gospel. Grant also to us an increase in vocations to the religious life. May more of your people respond to your call in a spirit of joyful generosity. May they serve your people in love by following in the footsteps of Christ your Son and provide by their way of life a convincing sign of your kingdom.

We ask this through Christ Our Lord.

Mary, Mother of the Church, pray for us.
Amen.

National Vocations Awareness Week

is celebrated each year from January 13-19. It is a time when Catholic faithful are asked to make a special effort to pray for vocations to the priesthood and religious life. It is also a time when Catholics are asked to 'discern' how best to respond to God’s call to “Come, follow me!” The Diocese of Raleigh provides its own web site on Vocations
