The mission of the Music Portfolio is to develop the talent, skills and musicianship of each singer and instrumentalist as together we explore, prepare and share a diversity of sacred song with particular focus on the musical treasures of the Catholic Church.

Celebration Singers More Praise
Chelsea Chimes (Handbell Choir) Schola Cantorum

 

Cantors
Open to men and women of high school age and up. Lead congregation in singing at liturgy, prepare psalms, Gospel and other acclamations, introduce new music to the congregation. Provide music for weddings, funeral Masses and ceremonies. New cantors receive personal training, all receive coaching. Call or email Roger Petrich at 919.942.6233.

Celebration Singers
Serves 9:15 a.m. Mass, mid-August to mid-June, and major feasts and sacramental services. Open to high school and older, vocalists and instrumentalists. Rehearse Tuesday, 7:30-9:30 p.m. Call or email Barbara Reynolds at 919.537.2812.

Chelsea Chimes (Handbell Choir)
Malmark handbells are used by members, men and women high school age and up. Ringing choirs perform at numerous weekend and Holy Day Masses. Rehearse Thursday, 7:00-9:00 p.m. Call or email Roger Petrich at 919.942.6233.

Instrumentalists
People proficient on string, woodwind, brass and percussion instruments are welcome and encouraged to enhance choirs. Solo singers serve weddings, funerals, and liturgical seasons. Call or email Roger Petrich at 919.942.6233.

More Praise
Open to students in grades 6-8. Learn music reading, singing technique, liturgical awareness and preparing songs for liturgy with the St. Thomas More School. Rehearse Thursdays, 11:30am-noon. Call or email Roger Petrich at 919.942.6233.

Schola Cantorum
Serves 11:15 a.m. Mass, September-June, and all major feasts. Members are high school age and older. Extensive repertory employed, from chant to Renaissance motets to Messiah to contemporary composers, and our own Roger Petrich.
