Mission Statement/Purpose
The Schola Cantorum is the choir that serves the 11:15am Mass and all major feasts from late August through June. Repetoire includes an extensive selection of sacred works, from Renaissance motets to contemporary works, as well as the music of our own Roger Petrich. Members are high school age and older.
Major Accomplishments
The Schola Cantorum plays a vital role in our community prayer experience by leading the congregtional singing at all 11:15 am Sunday Masses and Feast Day Masses, and presenting motets and anthems. In 2008 the Schola Cantorum, together with the Chelsea Chimes and Celebration Singers, presented "Roots and Wings" - celebrating 10 years of music ministry in our new church space. The Schola Cantorum also presented Liszt's "Via Crucis" as a Lenten concert. In the fall of 2009 we will present an "Evening of Remembrance" - a program of music to honor those who passed away during the past year - and during Lent 2010 we will again present Dubois' "Seven Last Words" with soloists and orchestra accompaniment.
