Deacon Phil Rzewnicki has been serving our parish since August 2005. He was ordained a permanent deacon on June 2, 1985 in the Omaha, Nebraska diocese. He has also served as a deacon at two parishes in Altoona, Pennsylvania, and the Newman Center at Ohio State University. At STM, Deacon Phil is involved with weddings, special prayer programs, RCIA, cemetery services, the Men's Club pancake breakfasts, visitations to the sick, and any special needs where folks want to interact with a minister. Beyond parish activities, Deacon Phil is active as a spiritual director in Cursillo within our diocese and as a volunteer with the Kairos prison ministry program at Central Prison in Raleigh. He and his wife Anna live in northwest Raleigh and have three grown children. Deacon Phil is employed as a research associate with the USDA's Agricultural Research Service. He has worked in agriculture his entire career and has a Ph.D. in agronomy. Parishioners may contact Deacon Phil at any time by calling his cell phone during the day or his home phone in the evening.
