Elementary Faith Development
Volunteers Needed for 2010 - 2011
The Elementary Faith Development program resumes in September, and is looking now for new volunteer catechists to teach children who are registered in our program.
We need catechists in the positions listed below:
Please express your interest using the Catechists Intentions Form. Please note that catechists who have children in the program are exempt from all fees. We will provide all necessary training and materials, and all catechists are invited to participate in Catechist Formation Programs. We especially welcome bilingual catechists.

NOTE: People in full-time volunteer positions, indicated by BOLD PRINT AND CAPS receive free tuition for their children. We usually assign a team of 2 catechists and 1 assistant per class.
RCIA-C CATECHIST
Work with children preparing for the Sacraments of Initiation and their families, weekly, and attend RCIA-C Catechist meetings.
RCIA-C SPONSOR
Accompany child who will be baptized, confirmed, and receive First Eucharist by attending 11:15 AM Mass, an occasional class, two Retreats, and the Easter Vigil.
SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION CATECHIST
Teach children older than Second Grade who are preparing for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist.
EFD CATECHIST
Prepare for and teach Sunday morning classes. See longer Catechist Job Description.
ASSISTANT CATECHIST
Support another catechist with the practicalities and logistics of Sunday morning classes.
OFFICE VOLUNTEER
Assist the program coordinator during the class period collecting attendance rosters, preparing resources and supplies, etc.
MUSIC MINISTER
Teach music to children weekly, and plan music for special prayer services, programs, etc. Singers, pianists, guitarists, and other instrumentalists are also needed.
Special Volunteer
Help with various one-time activities, prepare crafts for catechists, and assist in Faith Development office as needed.
Retreat Volunteers
Assist Directors in delivery of First Reconciliation and First Eucharist Family Retreats.
Substitute Catechist
Teach or assist teaching a class when other catechists are sick or unavailable.
First Eucharist Ushers
Supervise First Eucharist celebrations during Easter season.
Bilingual Hospitality
To welcome and assist Hispanic Families on Sundays and translate documents.
